Macquarie’s business is structured into six operating groups and four service groups. The Technology division within Macquarie’s Corporate Operations Group is responsible for the management of Macquarie’s technology infrastructure, the support and development of existing business systems and the delivery and deployment of new systems, technologies and services. It comprises business aligned teams which provide dedicated and specialist services to businesses as well as central teams which provide shared services, such as infrastructure, to multiple businesses. Within the CGM Technology Division, the platform delivery team enables Macquarie’s global activities by undertaking the design and implementation of IT infrastructure related projects and support of the platform. The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering solutions and support for Macquarie’s evolving database environment as part of a global team. The database environment is complex, with Sybase ASE and Replication server running on Linux platforms, MS SQL Server running on Windows both physical and VM using AlwaysOn capabilities and Oracle RAC and dataguard both on physical and VMs. Responsibilities include deploying, upgrading and maintaining the database fleet, providing feedback on the health of the environment and creating automation for repeatable requirements. The position suits a highly skilled DBA who have a strong interest in career advancement in a technical stream – this is not a team lead or managerial position. The candidate would be required to work with several DBAs located in London, US and Asia/ANZ. Core responsibilities of the role include: building and maintaining sound working relationships with the Macquarie business users and the wider global IT team providing first-class relational database management systems support being accountable for the technical delivery of database projects and database support involvement in disaster recovery planning and testing when required database system builds, installations, provisioning, deployment and development ongoing upgrade and maintenance of database versioning ensuring that database systems are built to Macquarie standards and levels of support ensuring optimum performance and availability of Macquarie’s database systems technical project management, in line with all Macquarie methodologies and processes participation in scheduled weekend and after-hours work when requested Essential Experience and Characteristics an strongly skilled Database Administrator, with a good skill-set in either Oracle, Sybase and/or SQL Server minimum 6 years of relevant DBA experience at least 4 years working in a large corporate environment ability to work both independently and part of a larger DBA team customer-focused with a high level of English proficiency and communication skills ability to trouble-shoot complex database problems when escalations from the DBA Operations team occur Technical skills required in at least one of the following: Oracle Oracle RAC and experience with 12c Oracle DataGuard experience advanced experience in using RMAN for backup and recovery use of Automatic Storage Management (ASM) in a replicated SAN environment skills in Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Oracle database upgrades and application of quarterly Oracle CPU/PSU patches SQL tuning and monitoring via AWR or tuning/diagnostics pack SQL Server recent experience with SQL Server 2016 working knowledge of SQL Server mirroring and/or clustering SQL Server replication skills exposure to SQL Server Reporting, Integration and Analysis Services Sybase strong knowledge and experienced working with ASE 15.7 and 16.0 strong knowledge of Replication Server 15.2 or 15.7 Sybase tuning using ASEMON knowledge of all facets of ASE 15.x General good verbal and written communication skills good RedHat Linux and/or Solaris skills scripting skills in Perl and/or Shell demonstrable experience with change management processes and procedures experience in monitoring and alerting with such solutions as Splunk disaster recovery planning and testing exposure to infrastructure as a code and automated deployments Education at the following level: University-level Bachelor degree qualified or equivalent If this sounds like you, apply now!
