THE OPPORTUNITY Plan International Philippines is currently implementing the US-AID funded Marawi Response Project. The main goal is to support the integration or return of internally-displaced people (IDPs) from the Marawi Crisis. The Gender and Social Cohesion Lead will take the lead in the social cohesion and gender equality and women’s empowerment aspects of the project. S/he will be responsible for developing and implementing context-sensitive strategies to improve awareness and understanding within communities on woman’s rights and services available to support women on gender-specific needs. This will involve engaging and collaborating closely with community-level youth groups and local governance units supported by the project. Further, as the Gender and Social Cohesion Lead: You will be responsible for developing and implementing the training and grant activities focused on building community cohesion and improving civic engagement between local government, community members, and IDPs. You will oversee the community micro-grants (CMG) program, reviewing Community Solidarity Group (CSG) concept notes and proposals, providing feedback, and monitoring implementation You will coordinate closely with the monitoring and evaluation team on the conduct of CMG monitoring and provide inputs to technical reporting from a gender lens You will work closely with local partners implementing community-based programming to ensure Do No Harm principles are adhered to. You will represent Plan International in meetings/fora, including DRR Network Meetings, Community of Practice on Community Engagement, and UN cluster meetings. Plan International is a development and humanitarian organization. In exceptional cases, you will be asked to support emergency response activities in the communities in your assigned covered areas. DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES? To be successful in the role you will need among other things: Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Social Work, Gender and Development, Women and Development, Gender Studies, or any related field. A Master's degree in related coursework is preferred. Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating projects that strengthen civil society and women’s protection and empowerment. Relevant experience in implementing projects with a focus on peacebuilding, conflict management, social cohesion, and/or women’s protection and empowerment. Excellent knowledge and appreciation of local dynamics, challenges, and successful approaches in Mindanao, Philippines. Extensive experience liaising with institutions and civil society organization/s focused on gender programming; previous experience and an existing network of contacts in the Philippines preferred. Previous experience on USAID projects preferred. Fluency in Filipino and English (written and spoken). Applicants must have the right to work in the Philippines without restrictions.
